Using attentions for high temperature Chamber furnaces with Silicon Carbide Heaters

Silicon carbon rod (refers SiC heaters) is a kind of non-metal electric heating element, silicon carbide as raw material, finished through a molding process and high temperature sintering above 2000°C. The SiC rod features high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, fast heating, long service life, small deformation at high temperature, convenient installation and maintenance, and good chemical stability.

The SiC heaters are hard and brittle, resistant to rapid cooling and heating, and is not easily deformed under high temperature. The continuous service life is long while the intermittent service is short.

When the SiC heaters are being used, a reasonable surface load density and operating temperature should be selected. The maximum operating temperature of the silicon carbide rod cannot exceed 1450°C, or it will be aged rapidly and the service life will be seriously affected. The resistance value of the silicon carbide rod will increase slowly during use. When the resistance value increases to four times of the origin value, the life of the silicon carbide rod ends. In addition, it is necessary to prevent the chemical reaction between the silicon carbide rod and the harmful gas.

The furnace can obtain an accurate constant temperature when silicon carbide rod matched with an automatic electronic control system. Heating with silicon carbide rods is convenient, safe and reliable. It has been widely used in high temperature fields such as electronics, magnetic materials, powder metallurgy, ceramics, glass, semiconductors, analytical testing, scientific research, etc. It has become reliable heating elements for electric heating equipments such as muffle furnace, tube furnace, chamber furnaces etc.
