WHAT IS A VERTICAL TUBE FURNACE?

Vertical Tube furnaces are designed with a vertically stand chamber with fixed well tube reactor to do quenching tests for wire shape materials under vacuum or atmosphere protection in lab and industrial. Features cylindrical chamber or two semi-cylindrical chambers lining with high alumina fibers and powerful all round heaters ensure a good temperature uniformity; Vacuum tubes with SS KF flanges make the vacuum pumping and gas purging available. Microprocessor PID controlled, fast heating and cooling with low energy consumption. Quartz furnace tube diameter ranges from 25mm to 300mm with Tmax 1200 deg C, while alumina tube ranges 25-100mm with Tmax 1700°C.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF VERTICAL TUBE FURNACES?

There are many types of vertical tube furnaces, generally, it can be classified into several catagories as bellow:

  • Firstly, based on Working Temperature ranges: 30-1100°C, 1200-1400°C and 1300-1700°C vertical tube furnaces.
  • Secondly, based on Constructed Structures and configurations: split, non-split, quartz, alumina, gradient (1 zone, 2 zone, 3 zone, multi-zone), vertical tube furnaces.
  • Thirdly, based on Heat Treatment Processes: vacuum, atmosphere, CVD, PECVD, pyrolysis vertical tube furnaces etc

Vertical Tube furnaces are specially used for processing wire shape samples or bottom loading powder materials while a horizontal furnace can not.

  • Confirm working temperature range firstly: namely 30-1100°C, 1200-1300°C, 1400-1700°C. By this mean, it is important to know the actual working temperature of the loaded materials. In addition, price and furnace structures differs much among temperature ranges.
  • Needed heating zone: single zone, 2 zone,  multi-zone tube furnace, a suitable working space will improve the heating performance and cost less
  • Kind of thermal treatment: heat treatment processes affect the furnace configurations. For example, for quenching test , a vertical tube furnace is better
  • Furnace chamber working conditions: sometimes, the processed conditions affect the furnace structure much. For example, kind of atmospheres, vacuum level etc.
